The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) participated in the World Innovative Cities Forum in Shenzhen, the People’s Republic of China

Mr. Qin Weizhong, Mayor of Shenzhen, chaired the forum themed “Jointly building an Open and Innovative Platform, Rising to Development Challenge of the Times.” The forum is designed for the participants to exchange ideas, share experiences, collect consensus, and seek collaboration for the better preparation in respond to risks and challenges now. Besides, it is an enhancement of sustainable urban development. On this occasion, representatives of institutions from 16 cities in 10 countries participated in the forum offline and the honorable guests from 10 cities participated in the forum online, such as Mr. Kizo Hisamoto, Mayor of Kobe, Mr. Tatsuo Igarashi, Mayor of Tsukuba, Ms. Lianne Dalziel, Mayor of Christchurch.

Dr. Vallop Suwandee presented urban innovation development under conceptual frameworks: smart government, smart energy, smart education, smart agriculture, smart Internet of Things, smart open data, smart home, smart retail, smart mobility and smart health. Moreover, he presented 3 perspectives of the city which consist of (1.) Chong Nonsi Canal Landscape and the Surrounding Area Improvement Project, themed as “Canal Park for All,” (2.) Forest in the Middle of Bangkok, and (3.) The Underground Water Banks and Submerged Drainage Systems including Innovation Districts. BMA expects to receive some collaboration which is the key factor to succeed goals in innovation development from Shenzhen, other cities, various organizations globally.
