City Information
Lausanne is the capital of the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. The city is located on Lake Geneva at 46.52 latitude and 6.63 longitude, and situated at elevation 453 meters above sea level. The city is surrounded by vineyards, rolling down a trio of hillsides to the lakeshore. It has a total area of 41.37 square kilometer and a population of 435,000 in 2019.
The city is a combination of a dynamic commercial town, local holiday resorts and the city's Gothic Old Town. The headquarters of the International Olympic Committee is located in Lausanne as well as Olympic Museum and Olympic Park. Sports and culture are given a high profile in the Olympic capital.
