Chongqing or Chungking (Traditional Chinese: 重庆 市; Simplified Chinese: 重庆 市; Pinyin: ChóngqìngShì) is a municipality in the southeast of the People's Republic of China. It is located at longitude 105°17' to 110°11'E and latitude 28°10' to 32°13'N. The neighboring provinces are Guizhou (貴州), Hubei (湖北), Hunan (湖南), Shaanxi (陜西) and Sichuan (四川). Chongqing has a total area of 82,400 square kilometer and a population of 14,838,000 (UN, 2018). The municipality is mostly mountainous with a high elevation. Chongqing's major mountain ranges are Daba Mountains (大巴山), Wushan (巫山) and Dalou Mountains (大婁山). The two highest mountains are Mt. Jinfo (金佛山) (2251 m) and Wuyunding(烏雲頂) (2441 m). The main rivers in Chongqing are Yangtze River (長江), Jialing River (嘉陵江) and Wujiang River (乌江).
The port of Chongqing is the deepest inland port located along the shores of the Yangtze, Jialing and Wujiang rivers. Chongqing is considered an important industrial and a trade center in the southwest of China.

- Spring : Chongqing's spring begins in March and ends in May. The temperature changes sharply and frequently in this season. It can be warm for a few days, then foggy and cold later. The average temperature is 18.7 °C.

- Summer: Summer in Chongqing is from June to September. The weather in this season is particularly warm and humid. It rains quite a lot in this season, therefore it is recommended to bring an umbrella for going outside. The average temperature is 26.75 °C and the highest temperature is up to 33 °C in July and August.

Sister City Agreement:
On 26 September, 2011, MR. Sukhumbhand Paribatra, Governor of Bangkok and Mr. Huang Qifan, Mayor of Chongqing Municipality, the People's Republic of China signed Agreement between Chongqing Municipality of the People's Republic of China and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration of the Kingdom of Thailand on the Establishment of Sister - City Relationship.
