Tehran is located in north-central Iran at the foot of the Elburz mountain range. The name "Tehran" means "Valley of Happiness" in Persian. This capital city is surrounded by mountains. There are very different weather conditions during the day and night. Each season has an interesting and different state. Since its founding as the capital by King Agha Mohammad Khan, more than 200 years ago, Tehran has grown from a small city to a huge metropolis with a population of 14 million. It is the largest city in the Islamic Republic of Iran and one of the cities. The world's most population with an area is 730 square kilometers. With a breathtaking landscape that reflects its proximity to the tallest peak in the country, Tehran is the gateway to the outside world of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The image of Tehran externally was greatly influenced by the Iranian Revolution of the late '70s and in the latter two decades of the 20th century. Newspaper articles around the world have shown that Tehran is the most important city in the world, puritanical, rich in traditions, and struggles with modernity and the West, while the image of the Iranians itself is the image of ancient peoples with a rich history and rich heritage. Most of the buildings were built with modern architecture in the post-mid-1960s and the average population is approximately 31 years old. Tehran has dramatically changed and divided social classes between the rich and the poor, resulting in tensions and turmoil that reflected. There were also two revolutions and a number of social movements during the 20th century.
Tehran is divided into 22 districts, each with its own municipality. It is under the larger municipality of Tehran. The first parliament following the Constitutional Revolution (1906) enacted laws for municipal organizations led by mayors and governed by the elected representative council. This legal framework continued to operate extensively even after the Iranian Revolution (1978–22). Over the course of almost the 20th century, the elected city council took office from time to time and Local affairs are still not fully independent from the federal influence that maintains a monopoly on power. After being vacant for a long time The Tehran City Council was re-established in 1999 with the support of 2006 elected Neighborhood Advisory Council established in 2006, although most of the conflicts were Based on various socioeconomic fluctuations, efforts by municipalities to secure some degree of financial independence from the country's central government in the 1990s were successful and similar measures were adopted by other councils in the country that are chaired by the Tehran Council. Being a city administrator and the election of the mayor of Tehran is according to the council and mayor administration system, as well as the budget administrator of the Tehran municipality. The Chairman and the Vice Chairman are elected by the council on the first term of the General Assembly in an odd-numbered year. The general meeting will be held on Sunday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at 10:00 AM (except public holidays or in the event of a decision by a special resolution not to participate)

On 27 November 2012, M.R. Sukhumbhand Paribatra, Governor of Bangkok and Mr. Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf, Mayor of Tehran signed Memorandum of Understanding on Friendship and Cooperation Agreement Between Municipality of Tehran of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration of the Kingdom of Thailand.
