Lisbon or Lisboa in Portuguese is the capital and the biggest city of Portugal. It is located in the western Portugal on the estuary of the Tagus (Tejo) River, about 13 km from the river’s entrance into the Atlantic Ocean, with the gps coordinates of 38° 44' 13.0056'' N and 9° 8' 33.6660'' W. Lisbon serves as the chief port of the country. Its natural harbor is one of the most beautiful harbors in the world. Lisbon has a territory of 100.05 square kilometers. In 2024, the population of Lisbon is extimated at 3,014,607 (Undata).

Lisbon is the nation's center of economy, commerce, politics and tourism. It is an entrepreneurial city which embraces new motivations, experiences and concepts. Tourism and commerce are the major parts in Lisbon’s modernization. Revenues from tourism in Lisbon have helped offset usually negative national trade balances.
