BMA hosted Bangkok Sister Cities Week 2012: Urban Rehabilitation & Renewal

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) hosted the “Bangkok Sister Cities Week 2012” with the theme “Urban Rehabilitation & Renew” at Benjasiri Park, from 9 to 12 February 2012. The Sister Cities Week aims to promote cooperation, exchange of views and experiences on city’s rehabilitation and to strengthen closer relationship between Bangkok people and its Sister Cities. It’s started with brainstorming on how to handle future disasters. Ideas and opinions will be incorporated into a plan that will also help Bangkok raise confidence in the world community and focus on protecting the environment and reducing pollutions. The event also included discussion on city planning, which beneficial to Bangkok given the development plan for the capital city is still on the drawing board. The four day event featured gardening under the theme of Urban Green by Sister Cities, PR booths by 18 participating Sister Cities from 13 different countries, with small gardens representing them. The cities consist of Washington DC, Beijing, Kwangchow, Chongching, Chaozhou, Budapest, Brisbane, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Manila, Jakarta, Hanoi, Vientien, Astana, Fukuoka, Seoul, Busan and Lausanne, and Embassy PR booths for domestic food, products and souvenirs.
