
On 27 January 2020 at 09.30 a.m., Mr. Wataru Kurihara, Chairman of Fukuoka Prefectural Assembly and delegation from Fukuoka Prefectural Assembly, totally 30 people, paid the courtesy call on Police Lieutenant General Sopon Pisuttiwong, Deputy Governor of Bangkok. In this regard, Mr. Khachit Chatchawanit, Deputy Permanent Secretary for BMA, Mr. Kriengpol Padhanarath, Secretary to Governor of Bangkok, Mr. Kosin Tesawong and Mr. Somsak Chatsuksiridet, Assistant Secretary to Governor of Bangkok and BMA Officials jointly welcomed at Amornphimarn Room, Bangkok City Hall.
Police Lieutenant General Sopon Pisuttiwong, Deputy Governor of Bangkok welcomed the Chairman of Fukuoka Prefectural Assembly and said that it was a great pleasure to be a representative from the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) to welcome the Governor of Fukuoka on 21st January 2020 and the Chairman of Fukuoka Assembly today. The main objective of Fukuoka Prefecture development is to provide for the well-being of people and to be the happiest prefecture in Japan. It requires close cooperation with Fukuoka Prefectural Assembly in order to achieve the objective. Similarly, the BMA has worked together with the Bangkok Metropolitan Council (BMC) to create a policy focused on developing Bangkok to become a livable and tourism city as well.
In this regard, Chairman of Fukuoka Prefectural Assembly expressed his thank and appreciation to the Deputy Governor of Bangkok for welcoming delegation from Fukuoka Prefectural Assembly and added that Bangkok and Fukuoka established the sister cities relations in 2006 and the BMC and Fukuoka Prefectural Assembly established the friendship agreement in 2007. Both cities have good relations and have been conducting co-operation programs in various fields such as economy, environment, culture and education. Thailand has set up a Consulate General in Fukuoka in 2018 with cooperation and effort of many stakeholders. It is hoped that a long 15-year relationship will bring both cities to prosperity together in the future.
