
Miss Pornthip Pornchivathip, Director of International Affairs Office (IAO), together with other two IAO officials participated in Gala Meeting 40 Years of International Sister Cities in Guangzhou, People’s Republic of China between 30th October – 2nd November 2019 as the representatives of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) for strengthening the sister city relationships between Bangkok and Guangzhou. In this regard, BMA representatives visited the exhibition of Guangzhou Urban Planning, an old town area developed to be travel destination of the city, and APM subway line from Linhexi Station to Canton Tower Station which uses the smart system of individual face scanning and paying via “WeChat” application. Mr. Wen Guohui, Mayor of Guangzhou, gave the opening speech in the opening ceremony held on 1st November 2019 and welcomed 81 sister cities and friendship cities of Guangzhou participated in this event. This included the latest 4 cities that signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the Establishment of Friendship City with Guangzhou, namely Busan of Republic of Korea, Brazzaville of Republic of Congo, Dhofar of Sultanate of Oman, and Edinburg of United Kingdom.
