Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal paid a courtesy call on Governor of Bangkok.

On 25 October 2019 at 10.30 a.m., Mr. Ganesh Prasad Dhakal, Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, Mr. Lekh Nath Gautam, Counsellor/Deputy Chief of the Mission and Miss Kornkanok Boonpong, Office Secretary, Embassy of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, paid the courtesy call on Pol. Gen. Aswin Kwanmuang, Governor of Bangkok. In this regard, Mrs. Silapasuai Rawisaengsun, Permanent Secretary for BMA, Mr. Vallop Suwandee, Chairman of Advisors to Governor of Bangkok, Mr. Pijaya Nagavajra, Deputy Permanent Secretary for BMA, Mr. Tamarat Wanglee, Adviser to Governor of Bangkok, Mr. Sing Limpirat, Director of Culture and Tourism Office, Culture, Sports and Tourism Department, and BMA Officials jointly welcomed at Amornphimarn Room, Bangkok City Hall.

Governor of Bangkok welcomed the Ambassador and said that Thailand and Nepal have enjoyed a long-standing and close relationship. Besides, Lumbini is the Buddha's birthplace and one of the most important Buddhist pilgrims’ site in Nepal. Therefore, many Buddhists in Thailand have traveled to make merit in Lumbini.

The Ambassador was very pleased that Thai tourists are interested in visiting Nepal and requested for support from the BMA to publicize “Visit Nepal Year 2020 Campaign” and encourage Thai tourists to visit more to Nepal. Nowadays, Nepal is constructing a new airport “Gautam Buddha International Airport” near Lumbini area which is very convenient for Buddhist pilgrims. Moreover, in order to create close relationship between both countries, establishment of sister city relations between Bangkok and Kathmandu will be discuss in the future.
