Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Thailand paid a courtesy call on Deputy Governor of Bangkok

On 10 April 2019, Mr. Kriangyos Sudlabha, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, together with representatives from Urban Planning and Development Department, Environment Department, Culture, Sport and Tourism Department, and officials from International Affairs Office jointly welcomed Ms. Raushan Yesbulatova, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Kingdom of Thailand, and delegation from the embassy, consisting of Mr. Yerlan Danabekov, and Mr. Timur Akhmetzhanov, counsellors of the embassy, at Amornphimarn Room, Bangkok City Hall.

Having an honor to meet with the Deputy Governor of Bangkok, the Ambassador took this opportunity to discuss a range of issues related to establishing the model of Baiterek monument which is the main symbol of Nur-Sultan city, a Kazakhstan’s capital city within the territories of one of the park zones or garden squares in Bangkok to dedicate to the 15th Anniversary of Sister City Relations – Bangkok and Nur-Sultan city (former Astana) in 2019. Therefore, the Ambassador requested for Bangkok’s kind consideration to imply the place or location that Bangkok grants a permission to operate the construction project.  For concerned information regarding monument establishment (i.e. dimension, weight, materials and other technical information), the embassy will inform once knowing the exact place where the said monument is put. In this connection, Bangkok’s Deputy Governor stated that Bangkok was pleased to receive the mementos and model monuments form friendship cities. Due to restriction of area of public parks in Bangkok and some , particularly Lumphini Park, is reserved for supporting public activity arrangement, Bangkok’s Deputy Governor proposed to establish the monument at Vachirabenjatas Park (Rot Fai Park), one of the public parks under Bangkok’s supervision with area of 375 Rai (148 Acres). It is a spacious park where many people pass by. Moreover, Rod Fai Park will be honored to the King Rama X in commemoration of his accession to the throne by changing its name. Along with the mentioned reason, Bangkok’s Deputy Governor deemed that Rod Fai Park will be, in the future, auspicious venue and more proper for reaching the embassy’s objective of the monument establishment.

In this regard, the Ambassador informed that Mayor of Nur-Sultan is going to have a visit Thailand during October - November. At the same time, the Mayor of Nur-Sultan will take that opportunity to officially open the monument. Also, the Ambassador knew that the Bangkok’s delegation is scheduled to participate in the 12th Astana Economic Forum which will be held during 16 - 17 May 2019, at Nur-Sultan. To further strengthen Bangkok and Kazakhstan friendship ties, the embassy, with gladness, is willing to facilitate the delegation at most.
