On 7th December 2021 at 11.00 hrs., H.E. Mr. Thierry Mathou, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Thailand, together with First Secretary, Deputy Advisor of Economy, and Advisor of Culture and Cooperation of Embassy of France in Bangkok paid a courtesy call on Pol.Gen. Aswin Kwanmuang, Governor of Bangkok, on occasion of assuming the position. In this regard, Chairman of Advisors to Governor of Bangkok, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, Chairman of Advisors to Governor of Bangkok, Deputy Permanent Secretaries for the BMA, BMA Inspector General and Assistant Permanent Secretary for the BMA jointly welcomed at Amornphimarn Room, Bangkok City Hall.
The Ambassador stated that Thailand has good relationship with France for a long time. Thailand has the largest resident French community in South East Asia with France’s cultural center (Alliance Française Bangkok), international schools, and many companies based in Thailand. On this visiting occasion, he offered cooperation on health and economy fields. In terms of health, the Ambassador was grateful to Bangkok Metropolitan Administration for providing cooperation on COVID-19 vaccination to French residents in Thailand. The Ambassador also admired public health officers for their hard work and dedication. The Governor of Bangkok expressed gratitude to France for donating Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines to Thailand which will be used as booster doses.
In terms of economy, the Ambassador proposed cooperation on air pollution, wastewater treatment, and public transportation system. Furthermore, there was a discussion on Lycée Français International de Bangkok that planned to be relocated. The Governor of Bangkok suggested both parties to coordinate with each other to find a proper location later.
