Ambassador of Kingdom of Denmark to Thailand Paid a Courtesy Call on Governor of Bangkok

       On 8th March 2022 at 10.00 a.m., H.E. Mr. Jon Thorgaard, the Ambassador of Kingdom of Denmark to Thailand, together with Deputy Head of Mission and Senior Officer of Commerce Department paid the courtesy call on Pol.Gen. Aswin Kwanmuang, the Governor of Bangkok, to discuss about Bangkok’s Green Agenda and Smart City Plans. On this occasion, the Permanent Secretary for the BMA, Director-General of Strategy and Evaluation Department, Director-General of Environment Department, and Assistant Permanent Secretaries for the BMA jointly welcomed the delegation at Amornphimarn Room, Bangkok City Hall.

      The Ambassador mentioned the long relationship between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Kingdom of Denmark that celebrated the 400th Anniversary in Thailand in 2021 and inquired about the current situation of COVID-19 in Bangkok, as well as the implementation of Bangkok’s Green Agenda after participated in the conference of C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group in Copenhagen. The Governor of Bangkok responded to both inquiries of the Ambassador highlighting the Bangkok’s Green Agenda. The BMA has been working on the green space increasing in Bangkok that the green spaces in Bangkok are currently available around 7.4 square meters per person, which were originally around 5 square meters per person in 2017. In addition, such working also included waste management, energy saving in both of Bangkok City Hall buildings for reducing the greenhouse gas emissions, and the transformation of its public transport fleets to be electric-system ones. Moreover, the Ambassador is pleased to coordinate and recommend agencies on sustainable environmental management and related technologies to the Department of Environment, particularly on solid waste and wastewater management, which the Kingdom of Denmark has given importance to this matter.
