On 18th March 2022 at 16.30 hrs., Mr. Kachit Chatchawanit, Permanent Secretary for BMA participated in the Hungarian-Thai Memorial Tree Planting Ceremony on the occasion of the National Day of Hungary (15th March 2022) at Benchasiri Park, Bangkok. The said Ceremony was organized by the Embassy of Hungary in Thailand, in collaboration with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), presided over by H.E. Dr. Sandor Sipos, the Ambassador of Hungary to Thailand, and attended by representatives from the Hungarian Community in Thailand, the Embassy of Hungary, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture and the Secretariat office of the House of Representatives.
In this connection, Permanent Secretary for BMA spoke of the close and long-lasting relationship between Hungary and Thailand, which will reach their 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2023. In addition to country-to-country relations, both sides have implemented activities through the sister-city cooperation framework between Budapest and Bangkok, which established bilateral ties in 1997. The Memorial Tree Planting Ceremony was the concrete evidence of the good and strengthened relations both country and city level as well as the support of the BMA’s Project of “Green Bangkok 2030” which is aimed to increase the urban green space, solve the environmental problems and improve the public quality of life for both present and next generations.
