Director-General of Environment Department has a meeting with the Ambassador of Hungary to Thailand to introduce Hungarian innovations for sustainable urban development and discuss further cooperation

           On May 12th , 2022, Mr. Wirat Manassanitwong , Director-General of Environment Department, together with Ms. Voranuch Suaykakao , Deputy Director-General of Environment Department and Mr. Jarupong Pengglieng, Director of Planning and City Capacity Promotion Division, International Affairs Office had a meeting with H.E. Mr. Sandor Sipos, the Ambassador of Hungary to Thailand at Park Ventures Ecoplex Building to introduce Hungarian innovations, especially smart furniture for sustainable and creative city from Hungarian entrepreneurs as  follows :

  1. Solar-powered Smartbench is the bench with solar cells for generating light and power for charging smart phone. The Smartbench can be placed both in public park and at the bus stops. This innovation can encourage solar power using and safe the users’ life from electric shock.
  2. PLATIO SOLAR PAVEMENT is an innovation which can be installed on outdoor pavement to generate electricity for buildings, so it can protect the environment and reduce its electric cost.  Pedestrian can walk on this solar pavement. In Thailand, there are some private sectors starting to use this innovation.
  3. 3. SKYDREAM is a complex service aimed at sharing and promoting mesmerizing landscapes, forests, and oceans. SKYDREAM provides the hardware, server and marketing tools allowing to share Bangkok touristic attractions in the form of live video stream and time lapse via Bangkok Metropolitan website or other platforms on desktop computers, tablets, and smart phones. Thus, Bangkok tourism can be promoted effectively. For this innovation, the Ambassador suggested that BMA should install the SKYDREAM at Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn) for broadcasting its stunning scenery and attracting the tourists.
  4. Teqball Table is new sports equipment for football-based sport. Teqball was invented in Hungary and officially recognized to compete in many countries, including Thailand. The Tegball is similar to Thai Sepak Takraw which is played on the specially - curved table called Teqball Table. This innovation can be set up in public park, sports stadium and ground for sport.

          On this occasion, the delegates from BMA had an opportunity to see the Smartbench located outside the Park Venture Ecoplex Building and discuss on the necessary of using the innovation for promoting sustainable development. In this regard, the Ambassador emphasized that solid further cooperation between Bangkok and the Embassy of Hungary should be promoted to celebrate the 50th year anniversary of Hungry-Thai amicable relations in 2023. In this connection, the Embassy of Hungary would like to donate the SKYDREAM innovation and Teqball Table to the BMA. The Ambassador notified that the BMA’s need on desired innovations in smart furniture for urban development could be identified for appropriate support. Besides, the Embassy of Hungary is willing to support potential Thai entrepreneurs to be business partners with the Hungarian entrepreneurs producing smart furniture.

          At the end, the Director-General of Environment Department extended the sincere appreciation to the Ambassador for providing an opportunity to learn more about innovations to support using solar power which can encourage sustainable development and support BMA’s mission on zero carbon. Furthermore, he informed that the meeting with related departments for introducing today presented Hungarian innovations would be held soon.
