He also mentioned about the strong relationship between the Swiss Confederation and Thailand that have long enjoyed the close and friendly relations for more than 90 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1931. This friendship sculpture is an important evidence of strong and solid relations of both countries. The Deputy Governor also hopes that the collaboration in various fields and friendship between Switzerland and Thailand, especially the BMA, would continue to be close and smooth.
This Swiss - Thai Friendship Sculpture was built from the original sculpture, the Swiss Stone Fountain, that was installed at the front of Lumphinistan Building. The original sculpture was built by the Swiss Community in Thailand on the occasion of the Fiftieth Anniversary Celebration of the Late King Bhumibol Adulyadej's Accession to the Throne in 1996. Now, it becomes part of this new friendship sculpture, which is built on the idea of eco-friendly and the cooperation between Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and the Swiss Embassy in Thailand, and designed by Academic staff from Faculty of Painting Sculpture and Graphic Arts of Silpakorn University. This new friendship sculpture is not only a memory for the commemoration of the 90th anniversary of diplomatic relations, but also the symbol that represents both countries’ partnership focusing on innovation and sustainability.
