On 21st November 2022 at 16.00 hrs., Mr. Ling HAI, Co-President for International Markets of MasterCard, and his delegation paid a courtesy call on Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, to introduce the company, share experiences about the samples of smart cities around the world such as Technology of the Kolín City Student ID Card of Czech Republic, Date and Analytics Use for Subsidy Deployment and Local Economy Impact Measurement of the Government of Fijian Republic, and to discuss on the possibility that MasterCard could support the BMA to develop Bangkok to be a livable city for all.
MasterCard gives importance to becoming smart cities by using data collection technology to analyze and define life improvements of people to be better such as digital payment with the digital currency of the Bank of Thailand by using the EMV system, which is a safety payment standard using digital data in every financial transaction to reduce the fraud risk in the general goods and service purchase, and financial-inclusive movement. Especially student ID cards and smart transportation cards for Bangkok’s transport systems, smart traffic systems, applications for public-service point searching such as public toilets and auto teller machines, tourism promotion for Bangkok’s economic stimulation, volunteer training for MasterCard Academy 3.0 to learn MasterCard's technology of personal data security and cyber-data theft prevention in the form of the certificate training program so that trainees can get a job in the future. In this regard, the Governor of Bangkok suggests that both sides discuss more in details to further develop future cooperation.
