The China (Guangdong) - Thailand Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference, Focusing on Economic Development in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay (GBA) and Thailand's Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC)

(June 28, 2023) Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok participated in The China (Guangdong)-Thailand Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference and delivered a speech at the Shangri-La Hotel, Bang Rak District.

The Governor of Bangkok stated that Guangdong and Thailand had long been closely related. In particular, Guangdong Province is the homeland of most of the overseas Chinese who have settled and brought economic and social prosperity to Thailand greatly. In addition, Guangdong Province is an important economic partner of Thailand, with China's highest trade value with Thailand at 24.5% or about 1 in 4 of the total value of Thai-Chinese trade. And, 60% of Thai fruit exports to China are carried out through the market in Guangzhou. The data reflects the success of the strategy that has designated Guangdong as the area for national reform and opening up. It has played an outstanding role in creating the modernization and prosperity of modern China.

Today's seminar focuses on the development of economic cooperation between Thailand and Guangdong Province by jointly promoting the development strategy linkage of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and Thailand's Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) which is considered a strategy that is highly important to economic growth of China and Thailand. There is an emphasis on promoting small, medium and large investment projects whether they are modern industry, e-commerce, fishery, agriculture, tourism, science and technology, innovation, including finance and capital markets. This strategic linkage in the development of the GBA and EEC is considered a win-win economic cooperation between China and Thailand under the vision of China's leader focusing on creating mutual benefits based on equality, respect for one another and adhering to the path of peaceful development. It is certain that the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area by linking the development strategy with Thailand's Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) will be a win-win cooperation implementation and bring benefits to both countries.
