On 21st September 2023 at 10.15 hrs., H.E. Mr. Baek Seong Hyeon, Mayor of Nonsan City,
the Republic of Korea, together with the Nonsan delegation paid a courtesy call on Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, on the occasion of the official visit to Bangkok and discussion on organizing the International Strawberry Festival in Bangkok. In this regard, Mr. Torsak Chotimongkol, Chairman of Advisors to the Governor of Bangkok, Mr. Sanon Wangsrangboon, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, Mr. Singh Limpirat, Deputy Director – General of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Department, and Miss Pannarai Chingchitr, Director of International Affairs Office, jointly welcomed at Amornphimarn Room, Bangkok City Hall.
The Mayor of Nonsan City said that the International Strawberry Festival in Bangkok was initiated by Nonsan City with the intention of organizing this event outside Korea for the first time. It is the extension of Nonsan City’s festival which has been consecutively organized locally for 27 years. The Festival aims to promote good quality strawberries from Nonsan City to become more internationally known, enhance Korean agricultural products' potential in the global market, and foster good relations between Nonsan City and Bangkok. Bangkok was chosen as the organizing venue because it is a city with a lot of tourists and is suitable for promoting Korean strawberries to be widely known. Strawberries of various kinds and strawberry products will be displayed and sold in the Festival to be held in February 2024 at Siam Paragon Shopping Center.
The Governor of Bangkok, in this regard, said that it is a great honor that Bangkok was chosen as the first foreign city to organize such a Festival and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is delighted to provide support under its authority and promote the event so that the Festival will be successful according to its objectives. Organizing this Festival is considered another activity that helps boost the economy in Bangkok and strengthen the relations of both cities at the people-to-people level. So, Bangkok citizens and foreign tourists are kindly invited to the Festival.
