(27th October 2023) H.E. Mr. Chadchart Sitthipunt, Governor of Bangkok, co-chaired the opening ceremony of the “Coins on Silom 2023” event at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Bangkok Lumpini Park on Rama IV Road. Co-chairpersons at the ceremony included Mr. Aron Henry, the President of the Rotary Club of Bangkok South; Mr. Wichai Chiwakanit, District Governor of the Rotary International District 3350; and Mrs. Wiyada Srinakananda, Executive Chairman of 3M Thailand Company Limited. The Rotary Club of Bangkok South organizes this event to raise money for charity.
This “Coins on Silom 2023” event is the 24th annual event of the Rotary Club of Bangkok South. The money from this charity will be rendered to help children with disabilities and less fortunate people with low incomes in Thailand’s remote areas by providing a clean water system in schools, library kits, and other necessities to develop a better quality of their lives.
Today's activity is to place “coins” (stickers), which the donors will get after donating money, on a broad strip of 3M red plastic tape that was laid along the sidewalk on both sides of Silom Road as a symbol of donation. Rotarians and volunteers came to receive donations from the general public. The activities that Governor Chadchart participated in today were being the co-chair of the opening ceremony, delivering an opening remark, cutting the ribbon, taking pictures with the honorable guests, donating money, and placing stickers on the said red carpet.
