Secretary of Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport of Kingdom of Bhutan meet Advisor to the Governor of Bangkok to discuss disaster response and Bangkok risk map development.
Mr. Dasho Phuntsho Tobgay, The Secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport of the Kingdom of Bhutan, and Mr. Wisoot Tantinan, Partnership Advisor from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) met Mr.Pornprom Vikitset, an Advisor to the Governor of Bangkok and Mr. Jirat Mawai, an Assistant Secretary to the Governor of Bangkok on November 3rd , 2023 at 1:00–2:20 p.m. at the conference room, Thani Noppharat Building, Bangkok City Hall 2, Din Daeng. The representatives from the Department of Environment and the International Affairs Office of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) also joined in the meeting. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss issues of city management in dealing with disasters and floods, including an early warning system for disaster management and Bangkok risk map development.
Mr. Pornprom, an Advisor to the Governor of Bangkok shared and exchanged the causes of flooding in Bangkok and flood management policies, including an early warning system for disaster management and multiple sectors integration in developing an early warning system.
Mr. Wisoot from UNDP asked about Bangkok risk map, and Mr. Jirat Mawai, Assistant Secretary to the Governor of Bangkok, explained that Bangkok risk map was a digital database on risky locations in Bangkok. Data on circumstances and environments in each area from all 16 departments of the BMA were gathered by the City Planning and Urban Development Department, the main department in developing the map.
