Ambassador of the French Republic paid a courtesy call on Governor of Bangkok
On 5th March 2024 at 10.30 hrs., H.E Mr. Jean-Claude Poimboeuf, Ambassador of the
French Republic to Thailand, and his delegation paid a courtesy call on Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok on the occasion of assumption of duty in Thailand and discussion of cooperation between the French Embassy and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA). In this regard, Mr. Pimuk Simaroj, Secretary to the Governor of Bangkok, and Miss Pannarai Chingchitr, Director of the International Affairs Office, jointly welcomed at Amornphimarn Room, Bangkok City Hall.
The Ambassador talked about the visit to Paris of the Prime Minister of Thailand to meet and discuss cooperation with the French President. This activity, such as the exchange of visits between high-ranking administrators, was the strengthening of good relations after the French President visited Bangkok to attend APEC 2022 Thailand organized in November 2022. Moreover, the Ambassador invited the Governor of Bangkok to visit Paris to participate in the Olympic Games between 26 July and 11 August 2024 or another convenient period to meet and discuss cooperation with the Mayor of Paris in the future.
The Ambassador said about organizing the Olympic Day Event on 15 June 2024 at Benjakiti Park which aims to promote the Olympic Games 2024 hosted by the French Republic. This Event consists of various activities like sports demonstrations, Fun Runs, music festivals, and so on. The Ambassador also mentioned the cooperation fields between the French Embassy and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) like road safety, air quality, flooding prevention, waste management, fifteen-minute city, and so on. In this connection, the Governor said that cooperation in such fields complies with the BMA’s public policy under the concept of “A Resilient, Livable and Walkable Bangkok Investment Program”, and the BMA has been in close coordination and discussion with the Embassy. In addition, the BMA is ready to operate other cooperation like the promotion of LGBT+ rights, meetings and discussions with French companies in Thailand to provide facilitation under its authority, and so on.
