On March 19, 2024, at 14.10 hrs., the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) together with the Embassy of Hungary to Thailand hosted activities on the occasion of the visit by H.E. Mr. Péter Szijjártó, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, on March 19, 2024 which include the discussion and the inauguration of the statue of Mr. János Xántus and Budapest Lane.

In this regard, the Governor of Bangkok, and, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary had a discussion over the topics of sports and culture projects with the BMA, bilateral relations, and Budapest - Bangkok as sister cities at 206 A meeting room, 2^nd floor, Thai Health Promotion Foundation. Consequently, both presided over the inauguration of the statue of Mr. János Xántus and Budapest Lane at His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's 80th Birthday Anniversary Park (Sathon) where the Governor of Bangkok has expressed the intention to transform it into an international park of Bangkok. The naming of Budapest Lane and the installation of Mr. János Xántus’s statue were initiated by the Embassy of Hungary in collaboration with the BMA to celebrate the 50^th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Thailand and Hungary and the 25^th anniversary of sister city relations between Bangkok and Budapest in 2023.

In this regard, H.E. Dr. Sándor Sipos, the Ambassador of Hungary to Thailand, and representatives from the relevant departments of the BMA including the Deputy Director General of the BMA Environment Department; Director of International Affairs Office; and Assistant Director of Sathon District also participated in this ceremony.
