Bangkok Governor and French Ambassador Visit Licence To Clean Catamaran on Earth Day
Bangkok, Thailand – April 24, 2024
On the occasion of Earth Day on 22 April, the Bangkok Governor and H.E. Jean-Claude Poimbœuf, the French Ambassador to Thailand, visited the Catamaran of the Licence To Clean project, initiated by the Oceans For All Foundation. The visit took place at the pier of Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort, with the Catamaran being the first to be used for the project on the Chao Phraya River. The project is supported by AXA Insurance Plc and Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort provides the venue for operations.
The Oceans For All Foundation was established in Phuket in 2019 by Mr. David Martin and Mr. Thibault Salaun, two French nationals who are passionate about protecting the ocean.
The Catamaran of the Licence To Clean project named LTC004 is the 4th boat built from 100% recyclable plastic. The Oceans For All Foundation designed these boats for use in cleaning up the coastline of Phuket, with each boat capable of collecting an average of 300 liters of plastic waste per week. The deployment of the Licence To Clean Catamaran in Bangkok marks a significant step towards addressing the plastic waste problem in the Chao Phraya River, Thailand's main waterway.
On this occasion, the Bangkok Governor and the French Ambassador witnessed the boat's operation on the Chao Phraya River and discussed the possibility of expanding the project to other areas in Bangkok.
