The Japanese Ambassador to Thailand paid a courtesy call on the Governor of Bangkok to discuss the mutual collaboration of both sides
On 7th May 2024 at 09.00 hrs., H.E. Mr. Masato OTAKA, the Japanese Ambassador to Thailand, together with Mr. Takuro TASAKA, Financial Minister, Ms. Yurie OSAWA, First Secretary, and Mr. Haruka OZAWA, Second Secretary from the Embassy of Japan in Thailand, paid a courtesy call on the Governor of Bangkok to introduce himself after assuming the position and discuss the mutual collaboration between Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and the Agencies from Japan. In this regard, the Deputy Governor of Bangkok (Mr. Wisanu Subsompon), Secretary for the Governor of Bangkok, Advisor of the Governor of Bangkok and Chief Sustainability Officer (Mr. Pornprom Vikitsreth), Director-General of the Department of Environment, Director of International Affairs Office, and the BMA officials from Department of Environment, Department of City Planning and Development, and International Affairs Office jointly welcomed.
Both sides discussed the ongoing mutual collaboration between the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) such as the Project for Improving Traffic Congestions in Bangkok through the Establishment of Model Area Traffic Control (ATC) System or Bangkok Area Traffic Control Project (BATCP), Project for Sustainable Management of PM2.5 Prevention and Reduction Measures, and Project for Development of Integrated Master Plan for Flood Control in Bangkok Metropolitan Area. In this regard, the Governor of Bangkok expressed gratitude to Japanese agencies for their assistance in various fields of the city's development. He also expressed his wish to have Japanese businesspersons invest more in Thailand and consider establishing headquarters in Bangkok to make Thailand the business hub of the Southeast Asia region. Besides, the BMA is pleased to assist and facilitate properly the Japanese businesspersons coming to Bangkok to invest. In this respect, the Ambassador invited the Governor to participate in the Transit Oriented Development Forum (TOD) organized by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructures, Transport, and Tourism of Japan in June 2024 in Bangkok.
