(May 29, 2024) Mr. Pornprom N.S. Vikitsreth, Advisor to Governor of Bangkok, visited Interceptor 019, together with Dr. Pinsak Suraswadi, Director-General of the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR), and Mr. Puripat Teerakulpisut, Deputy Director-General of the Marine Department. The visit was to monitor the progress of the collaborative project on managing plastic waste in the Chao Phraya River using the Interceptor vessel (a solar-powered trash collection boat). This project is a successful outcome of a research collaboration aimed at addressing plastic waste pollution in major rivers worldwide, including the research and prevention of plastic waste leakage in the Chao Phraya River. The project involves various sectors working together to ensure the Interceptor 019 operates effectively in capturing waste in the Chao Phraya River, while also advancing the integrated efforts to tackle marine debris issues.
