On 12th June 2024 at 15.00 hrs., H.E Mr. Jean-Claude Poimboeuf, Ambassador of the
French Republic to Thailand, and his delegation, met with Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, to discuss the organization of the Olympic Day Event at Benjakitti Park. In this regard,
BMA administrators, including Mr. Sanon Wangsrangboon, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, Miss Pannarai Chingchitr, Director of the International Affairs Office, Mr. Damrong Ruensuk, Director of Sports Division, Culture, Sports and Tourism Department, Acting Sub. Lieutenant Wiruch Tanchanapradit, Director of Air Quality and Noise Management Division, Environment Department, Miss Pajariya Mahakanjana, Director of Public Park Section 1, Public Park Office, Environment Department, Mrs. Jipaporn Pungprawat, Director of City Relations Promotion Division, International Affairs Office and officers from relating agencies jointly welcomed at Ammarin Room, Bangkok City Hall.
The Ambassador talked about organizing the Olympic Day Event during 15 – 16 June 2024. This Event aims to promote Paris, the French Republic, as the host of the Olympic Games 2024, featuring a variety of activities: sports competitions and demonstrations, selling food, beverages, and sports products, concerts, and games. Sports, considered key activities of the Event, will be attended by French sports celebrities, including Mr. Emmanuel Petit, the former footballer under the National French Team winning the 1998 World Cup, Mr. Alex Jumelin, BMX world champion, Mr. Antoine Pinto, a Muaythai boxer with world-renowned boxing results. Moreover, in the early morning of 16 June, the Olympic Day Walk-Run 2024 will be organized along roads around Benjakitti Park. In this connection, the Ambassador requested assistance from the BMA in some issues mainly upon preparing areas for activities, selling food and beverages, reserving the parking lot, providing mobile toilets, and maintaining security so that the Event will be successfully organized to its objectives. Finally, the Ambassador also invited the Governor of Bangkok to participate in the said activities upon his availability.
