The Governor of Bangkok welcomed Deputy Minister of the Environment of Japan
On July 9, 2024, at 14.45 hrs., Mr. Isato Kunisada; Parliamentary Vice-Minister of the Environment, Mr. Yukata Matsuzawa; Vice-Minister for Global Environmental Affairs and delegation, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok at Amornpiman Room, Bangkok City Hall, Phra Nakhon District, Bangkok.
In this courtesy visit, Mr. Kunisada expressed his gratitude to the Governor of Bangkok for the warm welcome. He noted that earlier this morning, as a representative from the Ministry of Environment of Japan, he signed a bilateral cooperation agreement under the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Thailand. This cooperation is expected to result in more cost-effective environmental investments. In addition, he also mentioned that the delegation had experimented with traveling by EV Tuktuk to visit Rattanakosin Island before paying a courtesy call to the Governor of Bangkok this afternoon.
On this occasion, the Governor of Bangkok conveyed his gratitude to the Ministry of the Environment of Japan for past environmental cooperation. This includes collaboration between Bangkok and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on climate change management, support from Yokohama City for the BMA’s energy development plan, and support from Weather News Co., Ltd. in developing an early warning system, which has enabled Bangkok to allocate resources promptly to high-risk areas. In this regard, the Secretary for the Governor of Bangkok, Director of International Affairs Office, and the BMA officials from International Affairs Office also joined in welcoming the delegation.
