Mr. Pornprom emphasized the importance of waste reduction at the source, including sorting and utilizing waste to reduce Bangkok's waste volume. He highlighted that waste is a resource and, if utilized, can help solve environmental problems sustainably and generate revenue for further development. Therefore, all sectors must collaborate seriously.
The collaborative project for plastic waste management in the Chao Phraya River using the solar-powered InterceptorTM river cleanup solution, initiated by The Ocean Cleanup and its partners, including the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE), led by the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR), the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), the Marine Department, the Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT), the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bangkok, and Chulalongkorn University, officially launched the Interceptor019 in the Chao Phraya River on March 26, 2024.
