Representatives from the College of Education at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, USA, paid a visit to the Governor of Bangkok.

On 6th June 2025, at 10.30 hrs., representatives from the College of Education at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, USA, led by Dr. Allison Witt, Director of International Programs at the College of Education, together with one graduate student and two undergraduate students, paid a visit to the Governor of Bangkok at the Amarin Room, 2nd Floor, Bangkok City Hall (Sao Chingcha). The purpose of the visit was to introduce themselves and share their teaching experiences during a teaching training program at schools in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

The Teaching Training Program is a collaborative initiative between the College of Education at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and Chiang Mai University. Its primary objective is to provide undergraduate students with practical teaching experience at schools in Chiang Mai. In 2025, two undergraduate students will undertake a one-month teaching residency at Phuttisopon School in Mueang District, Chiang Mai, instructing secondary school students. Concurrently, a graduate student will conduct educational research in Bangkok for a week. Furthermore, the university intends to expand this program in 2026 by sending undergraduate students to Bangkok, in partnership with Chulalongkorn University.

The Governor of Bangkok and representatives from the College of Education at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign engaged in a discussion regarding potential collaboration on the Teaching Training Program within schools under the supervision of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA). Additionally, the Governor of Bangkok introduced the BMA school system to the representatives, which includes 437 schools serving over 260,000 students. The Governor personally guided the delegation on a visit to Ratchabophit School in Phra Nakhon District to observe primary-level instruction within the Digital Classroom project. The representatives from the College of Education expressed keen interest in establishing further collaboration with the BMA concerning the teaching training initiative.
