On Thursday, 12 June 2025, at 13:00 hrs., at the Amarin Room, Bangkok City Hall (Sao Chingcha), the Governor of Bangkok welcomed H.E. Dr. Suriya Chindawongse, Ambassador of Thailand to the United States of America. The courtesy call included discussions on strengthening bilateral relations and further advancing collaboration under the ongoing cooperation between Bangkok and Washington, D.C. The meeting focused on promoting joint efforts in key areas such as education, public health, innovation, and technology, along with a shared commitment to gender diversity and inclusion. Toward the conclusion of the discussion, both parties also exchanged views on global initiatives such as World Pride, an international platform for promoting gender equality and LGBTQ+ rights.

            In addition, the Ambassador extended an invitation to the Governor  of Bangkok to participate in the SAWASDEE DC Thai Festival, which scheduled to take place on 14 September 2025 in Washington, D.C., United States. The festival aims to promote Thailand’s soft power, showcasing Thai culture through a contemporary lens while preserving its traditional essence. Highlights of the event will include Thai cuisine, Muay Thai demonstrations, Thai classical and folk music (including Molam), and traditional Thai massage.

The Ambassador further noted that a significant number of companies in the United States—particularly those in the innovation and start-up sectors—have shown growing interest in investing in Bangkok, especially in the fields of technology and healthcare. He expressed the hope that this occasion could serve as an opportunity to arrange meetings between the Governor and private-sector representatives interested in exploring investment opportunities in Bangkok.
