Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Thailand paid a courtesy call on the Governor of Bangkok to promote relations between Bangkok and Riyadh.
On 24th June 2025 at 11.00 hrs., H.E. Mr. Abdulrahman Abdulaziz Alsuhaibani, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Thailand, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, to discuss the possibility of promoting relations between Bangkok and Riyadh, as well as to explore potential issues of future cooperation at Amornphiman Room, Bangkok City Hall (Sao Chingcha). On this occasion, Secretary to the Governor of Bangkok and the BMA officials from the International Affairs Office jointly welcomed.
Both sides discussed various issues of mutual interest between Bangkok and Riyadh, including tree planting to increase green spaces, waste management, the development of public transportation systems, such as metro lines and public buses, to address traffic congestion, and tourism promotion by creating man -made destination. On this occasion, the Ambassador extended an invitation to the Governor of Bangkok to visit Riyadh. In return, the Governor of Bangkok also extended invitations to both the Governor of Riyadh Province and the Mayor of Riyadh City to visit Bangkok, with the aim of promoting cordial relations and exchanging ideas and knowledge between the two cities. The Ambassador also commended the Governor’s effective response and management of the recent earthquake situation in Bangkok.
In light of the growing number of Saudi tourists visiting Thailand, the two sides discussed the possibility of establishing a sister-city relationship between Bangkok and Riyadh in the future. This could include collaborative activities such as planting native trees from each country in both Bangkok and Riyadh as a symbol of the close and friendly ties between the two cities.
