CoST International Board Chair Meets Governor of Bangkok to Exchange on Thailand’s Infrastructure Transparency Initiative (CoST)
On 10th September 2025 at 13.00 hrs., Mr. Rajiv Lall, CoST International Board Chair, together with Ms. Justine Wharton, Head of Advocacy & Communications of CoST International; Miss Nitiyaporn Imjai, Director of Public Procurement Cooperation and Transparency Division, Comptroller General’s Department, Ministry of Finance; Mr. Kittidej Chantangkul, Executive Director of the Anti-corruption Organization of Thailand; and a delegation of 9 members met Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, to exchange information and gather feedback on the implementation of Thailand’s Infrastructure Transparency Initiative (CoST) at 19th Floor Meeting Room, Thani Nopparat Building, Bangkok City Hall (Din Daeng). On this occasion, Mr. Sanon Wangsrangboon; Deputy Governor of Bangkok, Mr. Narong Ruengsri, Deputy Permanent Secretary for the BMA; Director-General of BMA Budget Department; and the BMA officials from BMA Budget Department, Finance Department, International Affairs Office and representatives from District Offices jointly welcomed the delegation.
In this regard, the Governor briefed the delegation on Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA)’s participation in the CoST program during Fiscal Year 2025 which covered 49 projects. It includes the BMA digital platforms to disclose project data for public monitoring and investigation, as well as the following up to ensure the continuous disclosure of infrastructure projects. The CoST International delegation emphasized the importance of digitalization in enhancing public access to project data and strengthening connections between government and citizens, thereby ensuring transparency and accountability. They also underlined the role of public participation in social audits to monitor infrastructure projects and provide recommendations to multi-stakeholder group, as well as the publication of media in reinforcing public investigation and transparency.
In addition, CoST International presented certificates of excellence in data disclosure, in accordance with Infrastructure Transparency Initiative (CoST), to the BMA agencies whose projects met the criteria. These were projects that had been completed and disclosed more than 95 percent of the required data. A total of 4 agencies and 7 projects were recognized, namely, the construction and improvement of Soi Sala Thammasop 13 Yaek 1, 2-1, 2-2, 2-3, 2-4, 2-5, 2-6, 3 and 4, and the construction and improvement of Soi Sutphawa 2 by Thawi Watthana District Office; the construction and improvement of Soi Phatthanakan 44 (from Bangkok Christian International School to Lam Huamak) and the construction and improvement of the walkway along Soi On Nut 46 by Suan Luang District Office; the construction and improvement of Soi Chueam Samphan 22 (from Thanon Chueam Samphan to Thanon Liap Khlong Chianradap) and the construction and improvement of Thanon Saen Kasem (from Thanon Pracha Samran to Thanon Khlong Sip – Khlong Sip Si) by Nong Chok District Office; and the construction and improvement of Soi Prasoet Manukit 29 Yaek 6 by Lat Phrao District Office.
