Bangkok Governor Joins the Opening of the “Ukrainian Film Festival” to Celebrate the 34th Anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence
On 2 September 2025, at 17.35 hrs., at the 5th floor Auditorium of the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, jointly presided over and delivered a welcome speech at the opening ceremony of the Ukrainian Film Festival at the Auditorium on the 5th floor of the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre. The festival is organized by the Embassy of Ukraine in Thailand to mark the 34th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence Day, from September 2 to 4, 2025. Distinguished guests at the ceremony included H.E. Mr. Robert F. Godec, Ambassador of the United States, H.E. Mr. Masato Otaka, Ambassador of Japan, H.E. Mr. Luís de Albuquerque Veloso, Ambassador of Portugal, and H.E. Mr. Patricio Fernando Powell Osorio, Ambassador of Chile, along with representatives from various organizations.
The Governor of Bangkok stated that the Ukrainian Film Festival is not only a celebration of Ukraine’s rich cultural heritage but also a meaningful platform for cultural exchange. Through film, which serves as a universal language without borders, the festival allows audiences to experience the beauty, resilience, and spirit of the Ukrainian people. He also emphasized that the event helps further strengthen the friendship and ties between Thailand and Ukraine.
In this regard, the Governor of Bangkok extended his best wishes for the success of the festival, inspiring audiences and contributing to enhancing cultural cooperation between the two nations. He also conveyed his congratulations to the people of Ukraine on the 34th anniversary of their independence and offered words of encouragement and solidarity during the current circumstances.
After that, Mr. Viktor Semenov, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Ukraine to Thailand, delivered the opening remarks, highlighting the shared values between Ukraine and Thailand. Despite being thousands of kilometers apart, both countries stand united in their belief in justice and the rule of law. He stressed that Ukraine is fighting to preserve its independence and expressed gratitude to Bangkok for its continued support and cooperation.
At the end of the Ambassador's opening remarks, the guests observed a one-minute silence in remembrance of those who lost their lives in the struggle for freedom. Then, there was a screening of the film “Yaroslav the Wise: Europe’s Father-in-Law”, which drew great interest from the audience. The atmosphere was warm and lively throughout the event.
