The Türkiye Ambassador to Thailand paid a courtesy call on the Governor of Bangkok after assuming the position
On 25th September 2025 at 13.30 hrs., H.E. Ms. Julide Kayihan, the Türkiye Ambassador to Thailand, together with Mr. Buğra Özcan, Third Secretary from the Embassy of Türkiye, paid a courtesy call on the Governor of Bangkok to introduce herself after assuming the position and discuss the mutual collaboration between Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and agencies from Türkiye. In this regard, Mr. Phimuk Simarot, Secretary to the Governor of Bangkok, together with Director of International Affairs Office, and the BMA officials from the International Affairs Office jointly welcomed the Ambassador.
The Ambassador expressed appreciation to the Governor of Bangkok for the warm welcome and commended his efforts in managing Bangkok. She also conveyed her concern regarding the road subsidence incident in front of Vajira Hospital on Samsen Road. Both sides discussed common challenges faced by mega cities in Türkiye and Bangkok, including urban expansion and traffic congestion. Regarding this issue, the Ambassador inquired about the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data in improving traffic light systems to address congestion. The Governor explained that the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration has already implemented adaptive signaling control systems at more than 70 intersections. These systems monitor traffic conditions and automatically adjust traffic lights, which has significantly helped alleviate traffic problems.
In addition, the discussion also covered the possibility of exchanging knowledge on urban development, including traffic management and public safety, as well as potential future cooperation activities in areas such as culture, tourism, and community engagement. The Ambassador also highlighted the presence of Turkish businesspeople in Thailand, to which the Governor expressed his willingness to facilitate and support Turkish businesses and residents in Bangkok. On this occasion, the Ambassador invites the Governor of Bangkok to attend the Republic of Türkiye’s National Day Reception on 29th October 2025.
