BMA participate in Arup’s “AI and Data for Resilient Cities” Event – Bangkok Climate Action Week
(29 September 2025) Associate Professor Tavida Kamolvej, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, participate in Arup’s “AI and Data for Resilient Cities” Event – Bangkok Climate Action Week at SCB Next Stage, Siam Paragon on 29 September 2025. She delivered a keynote address and joined a panel discussion session titled " AI and Data for Resilient Cities.”
In her Keynote Address, Deputy Governor Tavida highlighted the importance of data in urban management. As a local administrative organization, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) still does not have—or cannot fully access—all the data related to Bangkok. Therefore, access to critical data and the use of AI tools for data analysis are essential to support decision-making in the planning and implementation of various projects and policies, ensuring that they truly respond to the needs and concerns of citizens. She cited examples of how Bangkok has applied AI and data, such as Traffy Fondue, the AI system for traffic light control, air pollution forecasting, and hotspot detection.
During the Panel Discussion on “AI and Data for Resilient Cities,” Deputy Governor Tavida also illustrated the challenges Bangkok faces in integrating AI and data into urban development to create a sustainable and resilient city. Access to relevant and useful data in a complex city like Bangkok is crucial for formulating effective policies that address the needs of its people.
