BMA establishes and promotes relations between Bangkok and Venice.
On 15 October 2025, Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, together with Mr. Pimuk Simaroj, Secretary to Governor of Bangkok and an official from International Affairs Office, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Luigi Brugnaro, Mayor of Venice at Ca' Farsetti Town Hall.
Both sides discussed various issues of mutual interest between Bangkok and Venice, including water management, waste management, hydrogen-powered passenger vessels, tourism, trade and investment promotion, and the promotion of direct flights between Bangkok and Venice.
Thereafter, the Governor of Bangkok and the Mayor of Venice jointly signed the Letter of Intent between the City of Venice (Italian Republic) and the City of Bangkok (Kingdom of Thailand), with the honourable presence of H.E. Mr. Puttaporn Ewtoksan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Italian Republic, and Mr. Andrea Marcon, Honorary Consul in Venice, serving as witnesses.
The signing of the Letter of Intent between the City of Venice and the City of Bangkok marks an important first step in establishing and strengthening their relationship, paving the way for future exchanges of knowledge, experience, and best practices across various fields.
