Governor of Bangkok Joined Pha Pa Samakki Ceremony on the Occasion of the 170th Anniversary of Thai-British Diplomatic Relations, for the Restoration of Wat Buddhapadipa, London, United Kingdom
On 11th October 2025, Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, joined Pha Pa Samakki Ceremony at Wat Mahathat Yuwaratrangsarit. This ceremony was held by the British Embassy in Thailand on the occasion of the 170th Anniversary of Thai-British Diplomatic Relations. All funds raised from this ceremony will be contributed to the Royal Kathina fund to support the restoration of the Ubosot at Wat Buddhapadipa in London. It is the first Thai Buddhist temple in the United Kingdom, serves as a spiritual center for over 50,000 Thai people, and a hub for intercultural learning and interfaith understanding. In addition, the ceremony featured complimentary food, beverages, and a Temple Fair (Free of charge).
In this regard, Phra Brahmavachirabodhi, Abbot of Wat Mahathat Yuwaratrangsarit, acts as the Chair of the Monastic Ceremony, and H.E. Mr. Mark Gooding, the British Ambassador to Thailand, acts as the Lay Chairman. Before starting the ceremony, the background and purpose of this fund-raising Pha Pa Samakki were delivered by Phra Ratchawithetpanyakhun, Abbot of Wat Buddhapadipa and President of the Thai Buddhist Mission in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The honored guests who took part in the ceremony included Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand, Air Chief Marshel Sakesan Kantha, Commander-in-Chief, Royal Thai Air Force, Mr. Pisanu Suvanajata, Former Thai Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Mr. Kitti Wasinondh, Former Thai Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Mr. Aswin Techajareonvikul, Vice Chairman of the Executive Board of BJC Big C Group, Mrs. Thapanee Techajareonvikul, Chief Executive Officer and President of BJC Big C Group, and Mr. Kamolnai Chaixanien, Senior Executive Vice President of TCC Asset.
