(2 Nov. 2025) — Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, together with Mr. Taiwhut Khankaew, Deputy Permanent Secretary for the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), inspected the BMA’s operations in facilitating and providing convenience to the public paying respects before the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, at Sanam Luang, Phra Nakhon District.

Governor Chadchart highlighted a particular group of volunteer motorcyclists who provide free shuttle rides for visitors from the Grand Palace to the screening and shuttle bus points, approximately 400 meters apart. The volunteers, who come from various provinces, including some from Suphan Buri Province, have gathered to assist the public. He instructed the Director of Phra Nakhon District to ensure orderly management of the area and the provision of food and drinking water for the volunteers.

The Governor discussed the recent improvements to the sidewalks surrounding Sanam Luang. He noted that the fences have been moved to expand pedestrian areas by approximately two meters, as the original fence line was too close to the trees. Preparations have been completed to accommodate the large number of people expected to pay their respects at the Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall after November 9, 2025. It is anticipated that around 10,000 people will visit each day, while the area can hold up to 15,000 to 20,000 people.

Then, Governor Chadchart inspected various service points and facilities, talked with visitors, and encouraged officers working at the royal food distribution point, waiting areas that provide wheelchairs, and medical service points operated by the BMA Public Health Centers, volunteer service centers, waste disposal points, and shuttle bus stops. Shuttle buses are available on 14 routes, along with 18 regular bus routes that travel to Sanam Luang.

He emphasized that the BMA is implementing strict waste separation, and officers from all district offices work in rotation to give instructions on waste separation. The total volume of waste collected amounted to 700 kilograms per day. Governor Chadchart also reminded the public to dress appropriately when visiting the area. Men should wear black-collared shirts or white-collared shirts with black ties and black formal long trousers. Women should wear black attire with sleeves, a non-tight-fitting shirt or blouse, and long skirts or sarongs with a hemline that covers the knees. Round-neck t-shirts, sleeveless shirts, skirts above the knees, shorts, jeans, and sandals are not permitted. The BMA also provides clothing lending services for sarongs and trousers for those not dressed according to the dress code.

“Our team is strong and well-coordinated with all agencies. For now, around 3,000 people visit each day. All BMA officers are ready to serve and are doing their utmost,” said Governor Chadchart.
