The Chairman of Advisors to the Governor of Bangkok, (Mr. Torsak Chotimongkol), together with officials from the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), attended the 2025 World Cities Day China Observance held from 26–29 October 2025 in Chongqing, People’s Republic of China. The theme of this year’s event, aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, was “People-Centered Smart Cities Towards the Future.”
On this occasion, The Chairman of Advisors to the Governor of Bangkok presented Bangkok’s Vision for Technology-Driven Urban Governance, reflecting the Governor’s “The 9-Pillar, 9-Good Policy”. The vision emphasizes the use of technological platforms such as Traffy Fondue, BangkokTree, and Open Policy, along with the establishment of an Urban Development Participation Committee, to promote citizen engagement in urban development.
The Chairman highlighted that people-centered development is the guiding principle for building a truly sustainable city — one that collaborates with its citizens through the use of timely and appropriate technologies.
"A truly Smart City is not built upon the smartest machinery and technology, but is achieved through the trust, empathy, and collaboration of its citizens. This is the ultimate goal that will make the city a truly livable one for everyone".
During the visit, the Chongqing Municipality showcased the Chongqing Planning Exhibition Gallery, sharing their knowledge and approaches to urban planning and development. The BMA delegation also visited the Chongqing Sanfeng Yulin Environment Education Base, a learning center for waste-to-energy power generation, to exchange expertise and experiences in sustainable energy management.
