The Governor of Bangkok attended the Galleries’ Nights 2025

On 21 November 2025 at 17.30 hrs., Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, together with Mr. Sanon Wangsrangboon, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, Mr. Jean-Claude Poimbœuf, Ambassador of France to Thailand, along with his delegation, travelled by tuk-tuk to visit contemporary art galleries featured in “Galleries’ Nights 2025” near Silom and Sathorn area, organized by the Embassy of France. Inspired by France’s renowned “Nuit Blanche” (The Sleepless Night) festival, the event transforms cities—most notably Paris—into large-scale open art spaces. This year’s edition brings together over 200 artists from more than 80 galleries in Bangkok and Chiang Mai, offering the public the opportunity to experience art up close throughout the night.

The “Galleries’ Nights” aims to promote equal access to art for all, emphasizing the role of art as a source of inspiration, a reflection of society, and a channel that connects people from diverse backgrounds. The organizers also aspire to elevate the event into a national contemporary arts and culture festival by expanding activities to various regions across the country, highlighting art as an essential component of sustainable cultural and social development.

This year’s program highlights on gender equality, with support from the Archives of Women Artists, Research & Exhibitions (AWARE) based in France. Galleries exhibiting works by women artists feature a special symbol to honor their contributions to the art world. In addition, at the closing ceremony on 23 November 2025, held at the Jim Thompson Art Center, AWARE and the Asia Art Archive organization announced the upcoming launch of the project titled “The Flow of History: Southeast Asian Women Artists”. This initiative is part of France’s cultural diplomacy strategy aimed at promoting the role of women in the contemporary art sector. Galleries’ Nights was first held in 2013, making this year its 12th edition and part of the celebration of the 340th of Thailand–France relations. The Governor of Bangkok has placed great importance on the event and has participated every year since assuming office.
