Youth from Fangcaodi International School Visit Wat Duangkhae School to Foster "Sister-District" Ties Between Chaoyang (Beijing) and Pathum Wan (BMA)

On Thursday 27 November 2025, a youth delegation from Fangcaodi International School, Chaoyang District, Beijing, People's Republic of China, visited Wat Duang Khae School, Pathum Wan District, Bangkok, to participate in educational and cultural exchange activities under the framework of the Sister District Relations between Pathum Wan and Chaoyang Districts.

The delegation from Fangcaodi International School consisted of 20 grade six students and 2 teachers, led by Ms. Xin Shihong, the school’s Deputy Director. They engaged in exchange activities with students at Wat Duang Khae School, a BMA affiliated school offering a bilingual (Thai-Chinese) curriculum.

The visit aimed to strengthen relations and promote cooperation between Bangkok and Beijing, and between the Pathum Wan and Chaoyang District Offices; enhance mutual understanding and consolidate relations at the youth level; and provide an opportunity for youth to exchange knowledge on education, language, way of life, and to learn about Thai arts and culture, fostering an appreciation for cultural diversity.

The delegation received a warm welcome led by Dr. Norathep Chupul, Director of Pathum Wan District, and Ms. Naowarat Sompong, Director of Wat Duangkhae School. They were joined by representatives from the Pathum Wan District Office, the BMA’s Education Department and International Affairs Office, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Fangcaodi youth had the opportunity to exchange cultural performances, join classes with Wat Duang Khae students, and participate in cultural learning activities. These included learning how to fold lotus flowers for Buddhist worship, trying traditional Thai folk games, and making a simple and popular Thai dish, Som Tum (papaya salad). The students from both sides enjoyed a farewell lunch together before the activities concluded.

This exchange was carried out within two significant cooperation frameworks: the Agreement on the Establishment of Sister City Relations between the BMA and Beijing Municipality (signed on 26 May 1993), and the Memorandum of Cooperation on Friendly Exchange between Pathum Wan District Office and Chaoyang District (signed on 16 May 2025).

This school-level exchange serves as a crucial foundation for weavering ties between the two schools, which will lead to a Sister School cooperation agreement in the future. Such exchanges are highly beneficial for developing BMA students in areas such as language, culture, and social skills through direct interaction with international youth.
