New Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Thailand Paid a Courtesy Call on the Governor of Bangkok After Assuming Office
On 27th January 2026 at 13.00 hrs., H.E. Mr. Margulan Baimukhan, the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Thailand, together with Mr. Damir Akhmetov, Third Secretary from the Embassy of Republic of Kazakhstan to Thailand, paid a courtesy call on the Governor of Bangkok to officially introduce himself after assuming the position, exchange views, and discuss areas of collaboration. In this regard, Mr. Sanon Wangsrangboon, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, Mr. Pimuk Simaroj Secretary to Governor of Bangkok, Ms. Rujira Arin, Deputy Director-General of Cultures, Sports and Tourism Department, together with delegations, as well as officers from International Affairs Office jointly welcomed the delegation.
The Ambassador expressed his appreciation to the Governor for the warm welcome and conveyed his condolences on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother. He also stated that Kazakhstan always stands to support Thailand. The Ambassador then formally introduced himself to the Governor and praised Bangkok, describing it as the “New York of Asia” and the number one city that attracts young people from around the world to visit. The Ambassador also presented the Governor of Bangkok with a book “Complete Travel Guide Kazakhstan”, which was prepared by the Ambassador and his delegation and is scheduled to be published in Thai version soon.
In addition, both sides exchanged views and expressed mutual interest in cooperating on the development of digital systems for public sector administration, as well as in strengthening cooperation in trade, economic expansion, investment, transportation, and connectivity between Kazakhstan and Thailand. At present, there are more than 23 direct flights per week between Thailand and Kazakhstan. Recently, the Ambassador also initiated a trial launch of an additional direct flight route between Bangkok and Shymkent, the third-largest city of Kazakhstan, to further promote tourism, which is expected to contribute to mutual economic growth. On this occasion, the Governor of Bangkok proposed launching the Ambassador’s book at the Bangkok International Book Fair in March. The Governor also suggested promoting tourism by highlighting sister-city relations, organizing cultural activities or exhibitions, and hosting cultural festivals to attract more visitors. The Governor presented the Ambassador with a miniature city key and the book “As Floral Tributes for His Majesty the King” as commemorative gifts
