On Thursday, 1 May 2026, from 15.40 hrs. to 16.00 hrs., at the Amornpiman Room, Bangkok City Hall (Sao Chingcha), H.E. Ms. Cecilia Galarreta Bazan, Ambassador of the Republic of Peru to Thailand, accompanied by Miss Jazmina Clemente, First Secretary, and Mr. Martín Abarca, Third Secretary and Head of Economic, Trade and Culture sections of the Embassy of Peru in Thailand, paid a farewell courtesy call on the Governor of Bangkok on the occasion of the completion of her term of office in Thailand. The meeting also served as an opportunity to express appreciation to the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) for its continued support and cooperation in cultural initiatives undertaken jointly with the Embassy throughout the Ambassador’s tenure.

During the meeting, the Ambassador conveyed her sincere gratitude to the Governor of Bangkok for the BMA’s close cooperation in organizing various cultural activities in collaboration with the Embassy, as well as for participation in events hosted by the Embassy. These activities have played an important role in strengthening the longstanding friendship and cultural ties between Thailand and the Republic of Peru. Notable examples included the exhibition “Qhapaq Ñan: The Great Inca Road,” the exhibition of “Torito de Pucara” sculptures, three of which were presented by the Ambassador to the BMA for display at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC), and the unveiling ceremony of the mural painting “Peru and Thailand United by Art,” held in celebration of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Peru. The mural is located on Samran Rat Road beside Bangkok City Hall (Sao Chingcha). Other highlights included special musical performances by the Bangkok Metropolitan Orchestra (BMO), featuring Peruvian compositions alongside royal compositions of Thailand, as well as the “Friendship in Frames” photo exhibition, which reflected the enduring friendship, mutual understanding, and cultural cooperation between the two countries.

On this occasion, the Ambassador reaffirmed her commitment to continuing cooperation between Thailand and Peru even after the completion of her diplomatic mission and her return to Peru at the end of May 2026. She noted that the new Ambassador would soon be introduced to the Thai side and emphasized her intention to continue working closely with the Royal Thai Embassy in Lima. The Ambassador also expressed her hope of maintaining communication and exchanges of information in the future. In addition, she spoke warmly of the kindness and hospitality of the Thai people, which she intends to share in Peru in order to further promote a positive image of Thailand. She also expressed her wish to continue supporting future cultural collaboration projects with the BMA, including mural painting initiatives and other forms of cultural exchange, to further strengthen the close relations between the two countries.
