Ambassador of the United States of America to Thailand Paid a Courtesy Call to Governor of Bangkok on the Occasion of Assuming Office

         

On 14th May 2026 at 15.00 hrs., H.E. Mr. Sean K. O’Neill, Ambassador of the United States of America to Thailand, together with a delegation of five members, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, on the occasion of assuming office. In this regard, Mr. Sanon Wangsrangboon, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, Mr. Pimuk Simaroj, Secretary to Governor of Bangkok, and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) official representatives from the International Affairs Office jointly welcomed at the Amornphiman Room, Bangkok City Hall (Sao Chingcha).

The Ambassador expressed gratitude to the Governor of Bangkok for the continuous cooperation between the BMA and the Embassy. Discussions also included an exchange of urban management on various issues such as traffic management, public transportation systems, homelessness, air quality, and enhancing urban productivity to attract more high-potential talents from around the world to work in Bangkok. Furthermore, both sides discussed various areas of collaboration, including integration of artificial intelligence (AI) through partnerships with the private sector to address urban challenges in traffic management, data management, and security systems. Additionally, the Embassy also plans to organize various activities to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence this year. In this regard, the Embassy requested cooperation from the BMA in various events, namely serving as a co-host of the American Fairs in Bangkok, attending the National Day celebration, and publicizing these events via the BMA’s media channels.

                   On this occasion, the Governor of Bangkok presented a Symbolic Key to the City and a book "Bangkok Then & Now" to the Ambassador. In return, the Ambassador presented a book “Treasured Lands: A Photographic Odyssey Through America's National Parks” to the Governor of Bangkok as a token of appreciation.
