
Seoul youth delegation of 30 students together with staff from Seoul Metropolitan Boramae Youth Center visited Bangkok for Bangkok – Seoul Youth Exchange Program 2018 during 5 – 9 November 2018 under the theme of “Information Technology (IT).” Other than cultural exchange activities to further the relations between the 2 cities, the students visited various places to learn about IT of Bangkok, as well as those of Thailand.
On 6 November 2018, Mr. Baek Kiung, Deputy Director of Seoul Metropolitan Boramae Youth Center, youths, and staff from Seoul, paid courtesy calls on H.E. Mr. Kriangyos Sudlabha, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, Mr. Khachit Chatchawanit, Deputy Permanent Secretary for BMA, Mrs. Malee Phiromjit, Assistant Permanent Secretary for BMA, and Mrs. Anusara Chuensuang, Director of International Affairs Office. Deputy Governor greeted and thanked the delegation for the consistent cooperation and hoped that there would be opportunities to develop and expand fields of exchange in the future.
Seoul youth delegates and Bangkok students enjoyed IT related activities, including learning about interesting technology, developed creativity and design, at Thailand Creative & Design Center (TCDC), FabCafe, and Google Thailand Office. The program also included cultural exchange activities, including Thai Boxing, handicraft, and traditional dance at Lumpini Youth Center, as well as Thai dessert cooking and Batik painting at BMA Vocational School (Din Daeng 2). Moreover, the youths had a chance to travel by group using BTS Sky Train to visit designated places – Madame Tussauds Museum, Bangkok Planetarium, Jim Thompson House, Snake Farm (Queen Saovabha Memorial Institute), and Dialogue in the Dark at Chamchuri Square. On the last day, the youths visited Temple of the Emerald Buddha and Grand Palace before heading back to Seoul.
Bangkok - Seoul Youth Exchange Program has been organized for 10 consecutive years as Bangkok and Seoul students have exchanged their visits since 2008.
