
Mr. Kriangyos Sudlabha, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, led Bangkok delegates from Strategy and Evaluation Department, Traffic and Transport Department, and International Affairs Office to participate in the 7th Asia Smart City Conference (ASCC) during 13-15 November 2018 in Yokohama, Japan. This Conference was the international platform for representatives of Asian city governments and private sectors to discuss and share knowledges related to sustainable city development.
In this occasion, Mr. Kriangyos took part in the Transport and Mobility Session and presented the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA)’s Multimodal Transport System in which cooperated with the central government’s. Multimodal Transport is the integrated public transport system that serves growing citizens and commuters in Bangkok. Furthermore, Mr. Kriangyos informed that Bangkok is planning to be a Walkable City which its concept is not only connecting local transport, but also promoting public health. Development of multimodal transport and mobility networks, as a result, is one of the essential issues for creating Bangkok more convenient and safer, and to finally become sustainable city for all.
In the 7th ASCC, Bangkok delegation had an opportunity to discuss about city development in various aspects with representatives from over 30 cities from 15 countries, as well as the experts and academics from Japan and international organizations, such as World Bank, Asian Development Bank Institute, JICA, Yokohama National University, etc. Moreover, representatives from private sector and companies those work in the field of city development, for instance NEC Corp., Google Earth, Hitachi Ltd., etc., proposed many ideas to achieve Public Private Partnership (PPP) that will make smart cities in the future.
