On 17 July 2018, at 02.00 p.m., H.E. Mr. Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, accompanied by Mr. Faraz Zaidi, Deputy Head of Mission paid a courtesy call on the Governor of Bangkok on the occasion of being newly appointed as ambassador to Thailand. In this regard, Mr. Kriangyos Sudlabha, Deputy Governor, Mrs. SilapasuaiRawisaengsun, Deputy Permanent Secretary for BMA,Mr. VallopSuwandee, Chairman of Advisers to the Governor, Pol.Maj.Gen. PanuratMeepien, Adviser to the Governor, Pol.Lt.Gen. SophonPisutwong, Adviser to the Governor, Mr. KosinTesawong, Assistant Secretary to the Governor, and Director of International Affairs Office, jointly welcomed the Ambassador’s delegation at the Amorn Phiman Room, City Hall of Bangkok.
The Pakistan ambassador expressed his appreciation to have met with Governor of Bangkok and know each other. The ambassador also took this opportunity to thank the BMA for facilitating the public relations activity for "the Pakistan: Single Country Exhibition" between 13 - 15 July 2018 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre in Bangkok. This exhibition was very successful. In addition, the ambassador urged the BMA to encourage Thai tourists to visit more to Pakistan. In order to create close relationship between both countries, the ambassador proposed that the BMA establish sister city relations with Pakistani cities. The ambassador suggested Karachi City which is the largest city in Pakistan and Lahore City to become sister cities with Bangkok.
