
The 10th Regional Environmentally Sustainable Transport (EST) Forum in Asia
Pol. Col. Pichai Kriengwatanasiri, Deputy Permanent Secretary for the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), together with delegates from Transport Division, Department of Traffic and Transport represented the BMA to participate in the 10th Regional Environmentally Sustainable Transport (EST) Forum in Asia held on 14-16 March 2017 in Vientiane, Lao People's Democratic Republic. The main objective of this forum was to be an international platform for the EST member countries and Asian countries to showcase their policies and visions of Environmentally Sustainable Transport Development, especially in term of achieving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. Moreover, it was an opportunity to review Bangkok Declaration 2020 that aims to collaborate with environmental and transport agencies in Asia which is the essential mechanism for exchanging knowledge and experiences, as well as supporting relevant procedures in Asian countries. In this occasion, Pol. Col. Pichai Kriengwatanasiri and other more than 30 city representatives had signed “Addendum to Kyoto Declaration- For the Promotion of Environmentally Sustainable Transport ~ Towards Realizing Resilient, Smart and Liveable Cities in Asia”. It was to reveal cities’ intention to cooperate and develop public transport system for equity and sustainable city in Asia.
