M.R. Sukhumbhand Paribatra, Governor of Bangkok, together with Dr. Gwang-Jo Kim, Director of UNESCO Bangkok presided over the inauguration of International Conference on the Coalition of Cities against Discrimination on 8 June 2016 at the Plaza Athenee Hotel, Bangkok. The conference is a platform for best practices about social inclusion implementation, citizen’s rights, and spatial management for better utility for all groups of people in the city.
Bangkok is one of the Asia-Pacific lead cities to establish the Coalition Cities against Discrimination in 2006 during the Regional Conference of Cities for an Inclusive Urban Society in Bangkok. This year is an auspicious occasion of one decade anniversary of the coalition when the lead cities from Asia-Pacific meet again in Bangkok to reaffirm their determination in working towards a greater social inclusion for their city dwellers. The resolution from the conference will then be contributed to the UN HABITAT III at Quito, Ecuador in October this year.
