for Achieving Sustainable Transport

On 10-12 May 2016, the Expert Group Meeting (EGM) on Special Needs and Challenges in Developing Countries for Achieving Sustainable Transport was organized by the Division for Sustainable Development (DSD) and the UN Division for Economic and Social Affairs (UN-DESA) at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. This meeting brought together over 30 sustainable transport experts mostly from developing countries and some representatives from UN organizations as they strive to achieve sustainable transport within the context of UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The participants representing all regions shared their country and community experience. They also identified the ways in which they had been able to advance and where obstacles remain by focusing on the needs, gaps and challenges in developing countries.

In this occasion, Mr. Amorn Kitchawengkul, Deputy Governor of Bangkok had an opportunity to give presentation in the Policy Development and Implementation Session in the topic of Public Transport Network in Bangkok Metropolitan Region that revealed participants the traffic situation in Bangkok and how the BMA deal with the problems.
